Time goes by, things change, people change, and that's life. Now on one hand, it's kinda sad, but really it's inevitable so there's not much one can do. On the other, I'm glad that I've become more enlightened to the true nature of the characters I interact with, and perhaps it's better this way...that I will soon enough mature and move beyond this increasingly negative environ into a place where this foolishness ceases to exist.

The loss of friendship is still regrettable, though. It's funny how similar the dynamic and result of Roy and Nathan's (it was Nathan, wasn't it?) past friendship is to this current situation. Ah, well, maybe I shouldn't have gotten a dog, but the dog always cheers me up when others cannot (and loves me unconditionally to boot)...so perhaps it wasn't such a bad idea.

Saturday, October 11, 2008

makes my blood boil.

FTA: Nobody beats the U.S. when it comes to the difference in pay between CEOs and the average worker. In 2000, on average, CEOs at 365 of the largest publicly traded U.S. companies earned $13.1 million, or 531 times what the typical hourly employee took home. The corresponding ratio in 1980 was only 42, and in 1990 it was 85. As one source has put it, "in 2000 a CEO earned more in one workday (there are 260 in a year) than what the average worker earned in 52 weeks. In 1965, by contrast, it took a CEO two weeks to earn a worker's annual pay". US CEOs' pay rose 313 percent from 1990 to 2003, an advocacy group UFE said. By contrast, the Standard & Poor's 500 stock index rose 242 percent and corporate profits gained 128 percent.

This Gilded Age stuff isn't capitalism, it's ridiculous amounts of avarice. But hey, I guess fucking over everyone in order to buy a yacht is really the uber-patriotic American thing to do. The American dream is a farce.

Thursday, September 25, 2008

Not to sound cocky or anything, but it's plainly obvious that Obama will win the presidency.

Barack "Let me go ahead and present a well-thought out and reasoned argument using my magically glorious oratory skills" Obama and Joe "I'm Caucasian and old and male, so at least there's some aspect of the twentieth century on the Democratic ticket...but hey I know some foreign policy stuff" Biden '08

vs.

John "I'm old and angry and make rash decisions often, i.e. picking Sarah Palin as my running mate, because I loves me some trollop cunts" McCain and Sarah "I'm a complete dumbass and have absolutely no experience or redeeming qualities and my teenage daughter is pregnant.
